A's Win Game 1, Rangers Take Game 2

Oakland's Murphy Homers in Opener

The Oakland Athletics and Texas Rangers split a doubleheader on Saturday, with the A's taking Game 1 by a score of 4-3 and the Rangers winning Game 2 by a score of 5-3. In Game 1, Oakland's Sean Murphy hit a solo home run in the top of the first inning to give the A's an early lead. The Rangers tied the game in the bottom of the inning on a sacrifice fly by Jonah Heim, but the A's regained the lead in the top of the second on a two-run double by Ramon Laureano. The Rangers tied the game again in the bottom of the second on a two-run home run by Corey Seager, but the A's took the lead for good in the top of the third on a sacrifice fly by Murphy. In Game 2, the Rangers took an early lead on a two-run home run by Adolis Garcia in the bottom of the first inning. The A's tied the game in the top of the second on a two-run double by Seth Brown, but the Rangers regained the lead in the bottom of the inning on a solo home run by Seager. The A's tied the game again in the top of the third on a solo home run by Murphy, but the Rangers took the lead for good in the bottom of the inning on a two-run single by Heim. The A's and Rangers will wrap up their three-game series on Sunday afternoon.
