The Pink Panther Strikes Again: A Triumph and a Disappointment
A Hilarious Final Installment and a Sloppy Misfire
The Pink Panther series is a beloved classic that has entertained audiences for decades. However, the final installment, The Pink Panther Strikes Again, is a tale of two halves: a hilarious and triumphant first half, and a sloppy and disappointing second half.
The Triumph
The first half of the film is a masterclass in slapstick comedy. Peter Sellers is in top form as Inspector Clouseau, and the supporting cast, including Herbert Lom as Chief Inspector Dreyfus, provide excellent support. The film is filled with memorable gags and one-liners that will have you in stitches.
The Disappointment
Unfortunately, the second half of the film takes a sharp downturn. The plot becomes convoluted and nonsensical, and the humor becomes more forced and repetitive. It's clear that the filmmakers were running out of steam, and the film suffers as a result.
Despite its flaws, The Pink Panther Strikes Again remains a worthwhile watch for fans of the series. The first half is a hilarious classic, and even the second half has its moments. However, if you're looking for a consistently brilliant Pink Panther movie, you're better off sticking with one of the earlier installments.
